The Middle East region, which has long been one of the world's biggest sources of crude oil production, has in recent years become a major source of global demand for modern passenger cars and high-performance lubricants. The major modern economies that have taken root throughout countries like Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain, have led to changing consumer desires and a modern car parc. The convergence of factors putting more, newer cars on Middle Eastern highways presents an opportunity for the global lubricants industry.
In a recent edition of Lube magazine, Lubrizol's Kapil Telang outlines the factors at play for the industry and explains why domestic access to high-performing additive chemistry will be increasingly critical in the years to come.
