In the back of one of Jakarta’s many small roadside workshops, we found the owner carefully giving his car its daily clean. Like many people across Asia, owning a car has been an aspiration that has now been reached. The car enables him to do more and, in return, he carefully maintains it and treats it like a prized possession.
