ILSAC GF-2
ILSAC GF-2 was first introduced in 1996 for use in gasoline engines in passenger cars.
API has discontinued licensing engine oils against ILSAC GF-2 and it became an obsolete specification in March 2002.
API recommends that oils meeting the latest ILSAC standard are used in applications where ILSAC GF-2 is specified. Due to newer ILSAC standards (ILSAC GF-5, GF-4 and GF-3) being suitable for use in applications specifying ILSAC GF-2 it is possible to find oils available today that claim to meet the requirements of ILSAC GF-2.
Oils meeting ILSAC GF-2 are typically low HTHS (≤ 3.5cP) SAE 10W-30, 5W-30, 0W-30, 5W-20 or 0W-20 based on API Group II, Group III or Group IV base oils.
