DTFR 15C130 (formerly MB228.61)
DTFR 15C130 (formerly MB 228.61) is a Top Tier low SAPS¹ lubricant specification designed for use in high performance medium and heavy-duty diesel engines where advanced aftertreatment systems such as Diesel Particulate Filters (DPFs) are fitted. With a HTHS viscosity of 2.9-3.2cP, these lubricants are designed to provide enhanced fuel economy benefits to the latest Daimler OM471A Euro VI engines.
DTFR 15C130 lubricants are typically a SAE 5W-30 (2.9-3.2cP) viscosity grade, based on API Group III base oil.
The main physical and chemical requirements for DTFR 15C130 are shown below:
Requirement | Method | Unit | Limit |
HTHS viscosity at 150°C | CEC L-36-A-90 | cP | ≥ 2.9 and ≤ 3.2 |
Sulphated Ash | ASTM D874 | %wt | ≤ 1.0 |
Phosphorus | ASTM D5185 | %wt | ≤ 0.12 |
Sulfur | ASTM D5185 | %wt | ≤ 0.4 |
Evaporation loss (NOACK) at 250°C | CEC L-40-93 | % | ≤ 12 |
Total Base Number | ASTM D2896 | mgKOH/g | ≥ 7.0 |
Note 1: SAPS refers to Sulphated Ash, Phosphorus and Sulfur, the levels of which are often restricted in the latest performance specifications.
DTFR 15C130 is usually grouped with a range of other approvals. The most frequently seen approvals claimed in conjunction with DTFR 15C130 are API FA-4, Detroit Diesel DFS 93K223, Cummins CES 20087 & Ford WSS-M2C-214-B1.
