ACEA On-Highway 2024
The European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) Oil Sequences define the minimum quality level for engine lubricants used in service fill in gasoline engines, light duty diesel engines and heavy-duty diesel engines.
ACEA 2024 was introduced in October 2024 and becomes mandatory for all new performance claims made after 1st October 2025. Oil marketers may still make claims against ACEA 2022 edition of the oil sequences, the most recent update, until 1st May 2026. After this date, all formulations making a performance claim must do so to the requirements of the 2024 edition.
ACEA 2024 sees the addition of a new oil sequence, ACEA F01:
- ACEA F01 closely aligns with the North American category API FA-4, with an increased focus on piston cleanliness and biodiesel compatibility.
- F01 varies from the ACEA E11 sequence only in viscosity. F01 requires SAE XW-30 grade oils at HTHS viscosity
Other categories saw little change in this update from 2022, when E8, E11 and several new engine and lab tests were introduced.
